Public Policy

We believe that public policy is one of the most powerful tools we have for making a lasting difference. Advocating climate change actions at the legislative level requires ongoing, organized involvement with policymakers and governments worldwide.

• BICEP (Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy). In November 2008, we joined BICEP as a founding member. BICEP works directly with key allies in the business community, as well as members of the U.S. Congress, to pass meaningful energy and climate change legislation consistent with our core principles. As a BICEP member, we’ve met with members of Congress and their staffs, as well as members of the Obama administration to advocate for more effective U.S. climate and energy legislation.
• World Resources Institute (WRI) Green Power Group. In 2008, we joined the WRI’s California Affiliates to advocate for the renewal of renewable energy tax incentives. Since joining the California Affiliates, we’ve:
  • Met with the Hill staff of key Senate votes.
  • Added our name to a joint company, NGO and think tank advertisement in Roll Call.
  • Supported Congressional action on renewable energy tax incentives.
  • Sent a letter to the California delegation in the House of Representatives supporting Congressional action.
