Product Sourcing Practices
We strive to take a leadership role in establishing product sourcing practices that ensure every person involved in making our products is treated with dignity and respect. Deeply embedded into every aspect of how we do business, these practices have provided a broad foundation for our social responsibility efforts for nearly twenty years. Today we work to provide the most critical components of a safe and healthy workplace to all touched by our business—including HIV/AIDS education and health benefits for suppliers and workers in our supply chain.
In 1991, we became the first multinational apparel company to establish a comprehensive ethical code of conduct for our contractors. These Global Sourcing and Operating Guidelines comprise our Country Assessment Guidelines and our Business Partner Terms of Engagement. Since then, most major apparel brands have established their own codes of conduct. Multi-stakeholder groups—such as the MFA Forum, Better Work Cambodia, UN Global Compact—have emerged with codes to be adopted by their member companies.
