Taking A Stance On Weapons In Our Stores

No one should have to be concerned about their safety while shopping for clothes or trying on a pair of jeans in a dressing room.

What constitutes a safe environment can vary, but as Levi Strauss & Co. CEO and President Chip Bergh sees it, the Levi’s® shopping experience should inherently include the safety and security of employees and consumers at all times.

Today, we are asking that firearms not be brought into our stores. While this isn’t mandatory, we hope that gun owners respect our request.

“We operate in hundreds of stores across every state in the U.S., and laws are different in each one,” Chip said. “We know that the presence of firearms in our stores creates an unsettling environment for many of our employees and consumers.”

Levi Strauss & Co. is aware that some will disagree, but it wouldn’t be the first time our company has taken a position on an important issue of our time, even when it wasn’t the easy or popular one.

“In the end, I believe we have an obligation to our employees and consumers to ensure a safe environment and keeping firearms out of our stores and offices will get us one step closer to achieving that reality,” Chip said.
