The legacy of our founder Levi Strauss is alive and well here at LS&Co., but what about outside our walls? Well, one grade-school teacher is making sure his legacy continues, at least among her students.
Recently, Mrs. Reichert’s fourth grade class at Gifford Elementary in Racine, Wisconsin, spent two weeks studying about Levi Strauss, blue jeans, San Francisco and the Gold Rush. The activity culminated with “Levi Day,” which gave students the opportunity to sport the Levi’s t-shirts donated by one of our employees. Not surprisingly, the principal wants to feature it in the yearbook!
We have it on good authority that the students enjoyed the unit and loved the t-shirts, but we’ll let a sampling of their hand-written thank you notes speak for themselves. If Levi were still with us, we’d deliver these wrapped up in a bow for his 186th birthday this week!
