In 2016, LS&Co. was once again at the forefront of fighting for the rights of the LGBTQ community. From partnering with the Harvey Milk Foundation for our annual Community Day, to signing onto letters urging states to repeal discriminatory laws, to launching our latest PRIDE collection.
But we know advocating for the LGBTQ community starts with how we treat our own employees, which is why we’re proud to have received a perfect score of 100 points on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, which also earns us a place on their list of Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
And it isn’t the first time.
“Levi Strauss & Co. is incredibly proud to have earned a perfect score on the HRC’s Corporate Equality Index for the 13th consecutive year,” said Chip Bergh, president and CEO. “We have a long history of advocating for and protecting LGBTQ rights – both inside and outside our company. And we know the fight is not over. We’ll continue to be a champion for the LGBTQ community and provide a workplace that is inclusive and supportive.”
The 2017 Corporate Equality Index rated 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.
Our perfect score is a credit to LS&Co.’s core values of originality, empathy, courage and integrity, which go beyond how we make our product to how we treat our people. Our employees are the backbone of our business, and we’ll continue to provide the best workplace for all our employees for many years to come.
