Join Our First-Ever Levi’s® x TechStars Startup Weekend

Levi Strauss & Co.
October 24, 2018

Innovation is part of our company’s DNA.

Our founder, Levi Strauss, was among the first great American success stories, an innovator and entrepreneur who changed the apparel landscape with the creation of the first blue jean. And we continue to build on that legacy today.

We’re putting a call out to all would-be entrepreneurs and innovators in business, operations, design and technology in and outside of Levi Strauss & Co. to join us for a first-of-its-kind opportunity – “The Future of Retail Startup Weekend,” brought to you by Levi Strauss & Co. and TechStars, November 2-4.

Unlike the LS&Co. Hackathons, Startup Weekend is not exclusive to LS&Co. employees. All are welcome – technical and non-technical participants alike. Have a great idea for the retail industry? Make your ideas a reality while making valuable connections with other like-minded entrepreneurs, engineers, marketers, data scientists, industry experts, and more.

We’re looking to drive innovation by bringing together these modern-day pioneers. Over the course of the event – which will be held at Galvanize, 44 Tehama Street in San Francisco – participants will imagine, develop and pitch world-class ideas for redefining the Future of Retail under the mentorship of experts in the field.

“We want to continue to push the envelope in innovation,” said Julia Mehra of the Global Direct-To Consumer (DTC) team behind the event. “We feel the spirit of entrepreneurship is alive in the Bay Area and we want to continue to be host, join, and propel that conversation.”

The event kicks off Friday, Nov. 2, with opening remarks from Marc Rosen, EVP and president of DTC and Levi Strauss & Co. From there, participants will brainstorm and break off into teams to develop the best concepts.

On Saturday, the teams will be guided and mentored by experts from LS&Co. and TechStars, an accelerator network that specializes in connecting entrepreneurs and bringing new technologies to market. The weekend culminates with teams pitching their ideas to a panel of judges that includes Rosen and Yulia Groza, LS&Co.’s VP of Ecommerce Technology, as well as executives from Pinterest and other leading Bay Area companies.

Members of the winning team will have the opportunity to incubate their idea with LS&Co. for three months—and score a Levi’s® Commuter Trucker Jacket with Jacquard by Google.

To register, visit the event ticketing page here. The participation fee is $70 per person (or $50 before October 29) and covers all meals and snacks, workspace, and programming for the weekend.
