Continued Determination on Gun Violence Awareness Day

Levi Strauss & Co.
June 2, 2023

Today is Gun Violence Awareness Day, a time to remember those who’ve lost their lives, livelihoods and well-being to gun violence and to recommit to our efforts to quell the ongoing gun violence epidemic in the U.S.

It seems like every day we see more examples of the toll gun violence takes on individuals and communities. These seemingly never-ending acts of gun violence can be overwhelming, and it is understandably hard for some to carry on in the face of such a consistent, debilitating problem. This is heartbreaking work — but it is necessary work if we are going to make our communities safer.

We at Levi Strauss & Co. are constantly buoyed by the efforts of our brave, tireless partners and all those who refuse to accept that this situation is in any way normal — because it is not normal. Gun violence should not be the leading cause of death among youth in this country. People shouldn’t have to scan their surroundings when they go out in public. Parents shouldn’t have to worry when their children go to school. And businesses shouldn’t have to contend with the prospect of gun violence when putting together strategies.

That’s why we got involved in this issue, why we will stay at it and why we hope even more business leaders will join us in speaking out against gun violence.
