Levi’s® and New Balance are teaming up once again with a new footwear collaboration, available globally this week. The latest collection is inspired by the pioneers of mountain biking, a sport that gained popularity in the 1970s in Marin County, California, and whose early adopters often wore Levi’s® jeans on their rides.
The new collection pairs the iconic New Balance MT580 with classic Levi’s® touches. The MT580 is one of the most distinctive offerings from New Balance, known for its chunky, ROLLBAR-equipped trail design and recently reissued with a modernized trail design, featuring a slimmed down toe and reduced collar height.
The Levi’s® spin on these classic shoes are available in two colorways: a beige/black and a gray/blue. The beige/black colorway is crafted with hairy suede uppers and integrates washed black Levi’s® denim on the toe box and side panels. The gray/blue colorway is crafted with Nubuck leather uppers and integrates overdyed Levi’s® denim on the toe box and side panels. Both come with a signature Levi’s® Red Tab, Shrink-to-Fit™ Levi’s® denim, three sets of interchangeable laces and a special edition box.
To promote the collection, the brands took to the streets of San Francisco and the hills of Marin County to show the collaboration in action. The new collection’s campaign video follows two cyclists as they embark on their respective journeys across different terrains, featuring Angie Chavez riding through Twin Peaks and Lombard Street in San Francisco, Josh Matthews riding through the hills of Mount Tamalpais in Marin County and a special appearance from Charlie Kelly, who is regarded as one of the earliest pioneers of the mountain bike.
The Levi’s® x New Balance MT580 collection launches worldwide on Wednesday, December 6, and will be available for purchase on Levi.com, the Levi’s® app and in select Levi’s® stores.
