At Levi Strauss & Co., we are committed to pursuing impactful innovation, working with established partners and continuing to seek out new collaborations to help us meet our sustainability ambitions. That’s why we’re proud to share that Levi’s® was the first brand to have products made with U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol (Trust Protocol) cotton included in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly program. The Climate Pledge Friendly program collaborates with trusted third-party and Amazon-owned certifications to highlight and help consumers identify products with sustainability features that support Amazon’s efforts to help preserve the natural world.

While searching for Levi’s® products on Amazon, consumers can look for the leaf icon and the sustainability features label to identify and learn more about each product’s sustainability features, including Trust Protocol verified Levi’s® products.

LS&Co. has been working with the Trust Protocol since 2021 as part of our ongoing efforts to drive more sustainable and transparent cotton cultivation. The Trust Protocol’s mission — to set a standard in sustainable cotton production where full transparency is a reality and to continuously improve our environmental footprint — seamlessly aligns with our own sustainability aspirations and values. By sourcing Trust Protocol-verified cotton, and by tracking through its proprietary Protocol Consumption Management Solution (PCMS), we’re granted access to greater raw material traceability capabilities than we’ve had in the past, and we look forward to significantly expanding in the years ahead.

Amazon has been actively working to highlight products with sustainability features through the Climate Pledge Friendly program, so they are a natural collaborator. Amazon added the Trust Protocol certification to its Climate Pledge Friendly program this past December, highlighting worker well-being and responsible farming practices as sustainability features recognized by the Trust Protocol. There are now nearly 2,000 Levi’s® products made with Trust Protocol verified cotton in the Climate Pledge Friendly program for sale in the Amazon store. Levi’s® products certified by the Trust Protocol that qualify for the program provide the transparency that is paramount for our consumers.

“Our collaboration with Amazon and the Trust Protocol demonstrates the power of unconventional collaboration,” said Jeffrey Hogue, LS&Co.’s chief sustainability officer. “This is a situation where the three parties came together in alignment on our values and desire to bring less negatively impactful cotton sources to consumers. Now that we have done the hard work together, other brands that are committed to the Trust Protocol can join us and benefit from Climate Pledge Friendly badging.”

“The work Levi’s® and the Trust Protocol are doing is essential to making cotton production more environmentally and socially responsible, and we’re excited to play our part in building awareness and making it easier for customers to discover and learn more about products with sustainability features through the Climate Pledge Friendly program,” said Cam Westfall, head of Climate Pledge Friendly at Amazon. “The Climate Pledge Friendly program started with 25,000 products in 2020 and has grown to over one million. We look forward to continuing to grow the selection that we offer to customers, especially in categories like fashion with the help of brands like Levi’s®.”

Moving forward, we will look to make even more garments with Trust Protocol cotton while continuing to experiment with different traceability options and technologies across our product line.
