“This report represents the growth that comes from listening, shaping strategy and being intentional about implementing programs that make us a more diverse – and stronger – organization,” said Tracy Layney, EVP and CHRO here at LS&Co. “Our dedication to DE&I is fueled by the conviction that our people make us what we are and that it’s our responsibility to create a workplace that allows everyone to thrive.”
Report Highlights
Below are just a few examples of our progress covered in this year’s report:
- In 2023, LS&Co. made significant progress toward increasing our representation of executive women and diverse individuals at all levels of the organization. (Note that race/ethnicity data is only available in the U.S., while gender data is available globally.)
- Representation at LS&CO:
- Globally, women representation on our executive team grew, remaining a majority. In the U.S., Black representation increased on the executive leadership team.
- Top management (defined as the top ~250 leaders): Women in top management grew globally, while BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) representation, particularly Black and Hispanic/Latinx, increased in the U.S.
- Corporate workforce: Globally, our corporate workforce is majority women. Additionally, we have seen an increase in diversity by race/ethnicity in the U.S., where Black and Hispanic/Latinx representation has increased significantly.
- Frontline workforce: Globally, women’s representation among frontline workers slightly decreased, bringing us closer to gender parity. This segment remains highly racially diverse in the U.S., where we’ve seen notable increases in Asian and Hispanic/Latinx talent.
- One of our key initiatives to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging was the launch of our second annual Inclusion Pulse Survey. This survey helps us better understand our employees’ experiences with inclusion and belonging, enabling us to enhance our employee experience. Our inclusion score was 82%, reflecting the strong connection our employees have to our culture and values.
- Our global workforce continued to grow together through #ThePledge2023, a collective commitment to action. This pledge outlines how we will enhance inclusion at LS&Co. through targeted training efforts, from our retail stores to our executives. We focused on psychological safety, with 57% of our global workforce participating in the training.
- LS&Co.’s employee resource groups (ERGs) remain true champions of DE&I. These groups celebrate differences, foster belonging and provide a direct connection to employee perspectives. In 2023, our global ERG community grew by 16%, and we welcomed a new women’s ERG in Latin America.
Our Continued Commitment
While we’re pleased with our progress on our journey, we must strive to ensure that it is sustainable, bolstered by a culture of belonging and a rewarding global employee experience. The road ahead may be long, but with each step we take we are collectively creating a stronger LS&Co. where all our employees can thrive for another 170+ years.
