Every year, Levi Strauss & Co. and our employees make an incredible impact on communities through a variety of company initiatives and personal volunteer hours. 2024 was no different. LS&Co. and our employees stepped up in big and small ways to make a difference.

Read on to learn more about some of the key causes that LS&Co. and our employees supported last year.

Supporting Our Hometown

San Francisco is our home and last year we doubled down on our commitment to the city. Alongside Gap Inc., JPMorganChase, Visa, Inc. and Wells Fargo and Company, LS&Co. helped launch the Downtown Volunteer Coalition (DVC) to support the revitalization of our community.

Right: the back of an employee wearing a sun hat and a neon safety vest holding a canvas tote bag.

DVC hosts quarterly volunteer events to bring people back to the city’s sidewalks and support the small businesses that make San Francisco, San Francisco. In its first six months, DVC hosted three cross-company events, in partnership with Hands on Bay Area, bringing together more than 500 volunteers to take part in 30 projects in the downtown area.

We are also proud to have partnered with Civic Joy Fund to launch and sponsor Downtown First Thursdays, a free, monthly block party in downtown San Francisco that encourages community growth and support for small businesses. Since its launch, the event has drawn more than 140,000 people, hosted more than 200 DJs and artists to provide free entertainment to attendees, and driven additional traffic to small businesses.

Getting Out the Vote in the U.S.

This year, LS&Co. founded and launched the Community College Commitment to drive voter turnout among community college students who statistically turnout at rates nearly ten percentage points lower than their four-year-university peers. In the first six months, this overall effort grew to include eight companies, and through funding and key partnerships with civic engagement organizations, LS&Co. supported voter engagement on 377 campuses serving more than three million students across 46 states.

Our employees registered voters at concerts and music festivals through our partnership with Headcount and learned about local elections and options for voting through nonpartisan informational sessions with our employee resource groups.

The Levi Strauss Foundation also supported organizations that aim to establish and protect a strong and inclusive democracy across the country and gave $2.64 million to support these efforts.

Community Day and Beyond

In 2024, over 7,900 employees volunteered worldwide across 223 cities. They supported 1,116 organizations with the company’s matching program, doubling their impact. One of the best representations of our employees’ commitment to giving back is on our annual day of service, Community Day.

More than 2,000 employees from our retail stores, distribution centers and corporate offices came together to engage in a day of service. From beautifying public spaces to sewing bandanas for farmworkers and distributing food to those in need, employees around the globe supported more than 80 projects worldwide. The company also supported 50 nonprofits with grant dollars amounting to $200,000, including grants for DC Central Kitchen, Les Restaurants de Coeur de Paris, and Bo Charity Foundation in Hong Kong.

Through employee-driven grantmaking, we also partnered with organizations like Tomorrow Trust in South Africa, Give Out in Europe and Asia, and SafePlace International in Greece, supporting vulnerable communities that our employees care about.

Thank you to all our employees around the world for making a difference and giving back to your communities in 2024!
