Chip’s “Dirty Jeans Manifesto”

You may have seen the news yesterday that our CEO, Chip Bergh, is doubling down on his challenge to wash less. This May, Chip aired his “dirty laundry” to an audience at Fortune Brainstorm Green — a conference focusing on sustainability — by sharing that the jeans he was wearing “hadn’t seen the inside of a washing machine.”

Chip’s comments took off, and soon everyone was debating whether to wash or not to wash. The point, as Chip reinforced yesterday in his first LinkedIn influencer article, was to challenge consumer laundry habits and the perception of how often jeans actually need to be washed. He backed it up with some hard-hitting data to show the impact that could be made by changing habits.

In Chip’s own words: “I made this provocative statement because I believe strongly in what our brands stand for: quality, durability and lasting products made sustainably.”

We’d love for you to join the conversation. Just check out Chip’s LinkedIn article and leave a comment.
